For coaching equipment for the specific use of primary school aged children. The club has seen significant increase in participation within this age group of both boys and girls. As such the new coaching equipment will help facilitate the specific needs of this group.

Additionally Barwick CC provide after school sports provision to Barwick in Elmet Primary School, whereby this equipment will also be used.

The allotments have never previously applied for an award and as such the committee felt that this moderate request should be granted..

Barwick Bowling Club are upgrading the kitchen area in their clubhouse, and have sizeable commitment already but asked for help to purchase materials.

Scholes in Bloom have previously received substantial support from the Community Fund. Given the moderate nature of the request, £260 is awarded for the purchase of 2 new petrol strimmers.

For the purchase of new toys, tables & chairs for use by the pre-school aged children. The toddler group was previously awarded £300 in 2012 and did not apply for funding in 2013.

1st Scholes Scout Group

A request was made for expenses relating to the attendance of 3 scouts and 2 leaders to the World Jamboree (Japan) in 2015. The Community Fund were unable to grant the request, however does recognise the benefit the Scouting group offers the community. As such the equipment purchase element for the scouts is granted (3 x £120). Should the project not go ahead, this award should go to general (Scholes) Scout group funds.

Friends Of Barwick School

The purchase of recording and podcasting equipment for use in the new Agile Learning space.

FOBS demonstrated substantial fundraising efforts and as such a £3000 contribution is awarded towards a total project cost of £4000- £5000.

Potterton Walled Garden CIC

A strong application was made regarding a new community walled garden project within Potterton Hall estate. The Community Fund has provisionally made allowance of £2000 within this year’s budget, based on the information provided.

Given that this project is newly established, the Community Fund will be undertaking further research and assurances prior to releasing funds.

UPDATE MAY 2015 - unfortunately this community interest company folded and so the funds were not awarded.

Scholes Primary School is currently fundraising towards new staging, lighting and PA systems in the hall. In 2013 the Community Fund awarded £2500 towards the PA element, which is now in use. 

FOSP demonstrated substantial fundraising efforts and as such a £3000 contribution is awarded towards the lighting aspect.

The amount requested was for a trip to York Chocolate Story including admission, transport and lunch. The Community fund has made a £250 award which covers the cost of entrance admission for all Brownies and Guides.

The amount requested was for a trip to 2015 Christmas Pantomime including admission tickets and transportation. The £450 award will cover the cost of the admission ticket for all Beavers and Cub Scouts.

An application was made for funds for Scholes Social Cub to arrange a meal out at the theatre, a couple of day trips and a Christmas dinner. Scholes Social Club has had funding for similar purposes in 2012 and 2013 so the committee felt that it was somebody else's turn.

Scholes Bowling Club

The Bowling Club have some extensive repair work to complete, totalling £14,200, to repair/restore the four sided path around the bowing green, and had sent an initial (year one) application for one of the four sides. The committee were concerned that the four year total was more than we could afford, or commit to support.

The junior football club requested funds for winter rain jackets for all of its players. The committee felt that this was somewhat of a luxury item for a newly formed football team that already had the requisite equipment to enter the team into the local junior league.
